Crossed Wires

A flea-market handheld with every cartridge wired wrong. Left might go right, every button might turn a quarter, a press might move you two tiles. Work out what the four buttons really do, then reach the exit before the battery runs out.

Every cartridge is wired wrong in a new way. Each room starts on a safe test pad: press the four buttons, watch the little robot, and work out the wiring. The first four presses on every pad are free. After that, every press costs 1 battery, so get to the exit before it runs out.

The wiring is never random. There are 71 possible wirings, and four presses are always enough to tell them apart. Later rooms stack two or three scrambles, add spikes, pits and sliding blocks, and sometimes a loose connector changes the wiring mid-room.

What’s in the box

  • Daily mode: five rooms, one shared cartridge per day, the same for everyone
  • Endless mode: keep going until the battery runs out
  • A press log that shows what each button did, so you can spot the pattern
  • A share line with one square per room, no link
  • Tap, swipe, mouse or keyboard (arrow keys or WASD)
  • English and Korean, switchable in Settings
  • Art is drawn and sound is synthesised in code: the whole game is one 129 KB file
  • Made for a portrait screen (540x960), so it plays best upright on a phone
